Celebrating the great culinary talents of Dusit Thani Manila chefs, an intimate dinner was held to showcase a plethora of the hotel’s award-winning dishes at the Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC) 2019. The chefs prepared a bespoke 10-course menu for the select 20 VIP guests in an elegant evening dubbed as “The Winner’s Dinner”. Exuding creativity and passion, the table centerpiece of herbs and spices was an ultimate feast for the senses.
The night started out with fresh and light dishes that brought honor to the hotel. Laing empanada and Langka Dinakdakan won gold medal under the Filipino cuisine category, while Pan Seared Scallop won bronze.
The meticulous demonstration of culinary arts continued with the serving of Inihaw na Sinigang and a modern take on a French classic using a locally caught Lapu-lapu,both retracing the roots of Filipino fishing culture.
As an intermezzo, the 3PM Rice or Coffee Rice with a twist of flavors from the North was served. Also a gold medalist under Filipino cuisine category, this was the chefs’ elaborate interpretation of their childhood memories of having a merienda in the province
Good food and picturesque presentation was fused gracefully with the serving of Five Spiced Pork Cheek and Charred Beef Intercostal. Even desserts get the same creative treatment. The Blackberry & Pistachio Cake and Tsokolate At Turon gave the night a sweet ending.
Dusit Thani Manila’s team of kitchen experts successfully bagged 9 awards (two golds, two silvers and five bronze) out of 9 categories in the recently held Philippine Culinary Cup 2019 – the country’s most prestigious culinary competition – held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila.
